Tauri solves the weight problem of desktop apps built with web tech: instead of shipping a whole browser inside, the window opens in the webview the system already has (WebView2 on Windows) and the heavy lifting lives in a Rust core. That is how a minimal app gets under 600 KB, and updates come built in and signed, with a check that cannot be turned off. We run it here: the Sapiens desktop app is Tauri 2, and its whole installer is 19.8 MB. Dual licensed, MIT or Apache 2.0, maintained by The Tauri Programme within The Commons Conservancy.
