AITag Review

fontTools is the pocketknife for working inside a font file: it opens the font as a set of tables (cmap ties each letter to its glyph, glyf holds the outline points, gvar says how those points move with weight) and lets you read and rewrite each one from Python. It also ships the tools behind lighter webfonts (pyftsubset) and variable fonts (varLib). At Sapiens it fixed the lowercase circumflex in the Google Fonts build of Cormorant Garamond, copying the capital Ê's accent onto ê with its weight variation, in just over half a second. MIT license, and no required dependency beyond the Python standard library.
