AITag Review
FFmpeg is the multimedia engine under almost every video pipeline: one command line reads, converts, filters and writes pretty much any audio or video format, and it guesses the codec from the output extension. Inside, it runs as a chain of libraries (libavformat opens and writes containers, libavcodec decodes and encodes, libavfilter edits), and its filtergraphs wire effects together, like ducking music under a voice with sidechaincompress and leveling the mix with loudnorm. For AI work it is the glue around the models: cutting clips for training, extracting frames, mixing generated voice and music, encoding renders, with ffprobe measuring each file before it ships. Every film we make passes through it several times. Open source since 2000, LGPL 2.1 or later, with optional GPL parts.
